Tabula Rasa

Tabula Rasa

My tongue like knives or a gun
that fires straight through your ears to your heart and sieazes all that you are or would be.

The remaining words blocked by a barricade of ringing ears; the silence has already engulfed your whole body, a quiet blanket of comfort.

Your eyes are pools, deapthless oceans, searching for what lies beyond that inifitie white line, where sky meets sea…

Your throat constricts, spitting syllables you believe are whole sentences. Questions rapid fire like bullets from a gun but you’ve finally found that dire, desparate voice and oh how it booms…

The answers you seek are stuck in my mind, yet, painful understanding crosses your face, contorting in confused, reluctant acceptance.

Goodbye. An ugly word that stopped and resuscitated your heart. As resignation travels throughout your body with each difficult heartbeat; a settled calm rages within you.

The storm within your heart beats on with the promise of a tabula rasa tomorrow and the sudden smile on your crooked lips cracks your broken face.
